Security Tester

Location: Dublin
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: €65,000 – €75,000

A growing security function is strengthening its offensive capability and adding a Security Testing Engineer to take ownership of deeper, hands-on assessment work across network, cloud, and application layers. You’ll be involved in shaping testing approaches, validating complex attack paths, and contributing to internal tooling used across wider security programmes.

This role suits someone comfortable handling full test cycles end-to-end, with enough experience to operate independently while still collaborating with senior specialists on harder problem spaces.

The Role

You’ll lead and contribute to a range of assessment activities—moving beyond surface-level validation and into targeted exploitation, post-exploitation mapping, and practical risk demonstration. Expect a mix of adversarial research, custom scripting, and iterative improvement of testing pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute network, infrastructure, identity and application-level security tests
• Validate, escalate, or dismiss automated findings through manual analysis
• Perform exploitation and controlled post-exploitation where relevant
• Identify additional vectors that automated platforms typically overlook
• Develop or refine scripts and internal utilities to support scalable testing
• Document attack chains clearly for engineering, cloud, and platform teams
• Feed into threat scenario planning and real-world attack simulations
• Contribute to internal playbooks, methodologies, and repeatable testing workflows
• Collaborate with security engineering, platform owners, and architecture teams on remediation patterns

Skills & Experience

• 3+ years in penetration testing, offensive security, or exploit-focused engineering
• Strong grasp of network fundamentals, common protocols, and lateral movement concepts
• Comfortable using modern offensive toolsets (Burp, Impacket, BloodHound, Metasploit, etc.)
• Experience assessing identity pathways (AD/Entra) and hybrid infrastructure
• Ability to script in Python, Bash, or similar for automation and testing logic
• Knowledge of Linux-based testing environments and Windows internals
• Ability to produce clear technical reports without relying on template-driven outputs
• Appetite for research, tooling, and iterative exploitation rather than checklist testing
